XML & Aastra SIP PhoneseXtensible Markup Language (XML) is a widely adopted, open standard for delivering information to any Web interface, and since Aastra SIP Phones run over a data network infrastructure, software developers can just as easily create integrated voice and data applications for Aastra SIP Phones using XML as they can for any Internet application. All Aastra SIP Phones are XML-enabled. The display and keypad on Aastra SIP phones can be used to easily access and display data from the XML applications. The Internet language lets the enterprise take the data from common "back office" business applications and deliver select information to the screens of Aastra SIP Phones. Unlike desktop computers, which are typically used to display content, office phones are more ubiquitous, always ready and user-friendly, helping provide productivity applications everywhere in the company. Employees who do not have their own PC, such as factory workers, warehouse foremen, or maintenance personnel, can use Aastra SIP Phones for applications that otherwise would be inaccessible.
